Hey guys. So I was in history class today and got pretty triggered my teacher assigned up a bunch of liberal, biased, garbage article to read and answer questions for. The reason I am so bothered is because living in California, it’s a liberal state. In this article, they bash president Trump, portray him as th next hitler, “Oh, Trump hates immigrants! Trump wants to tear people apart and deport illegal citizens!” I am sick and tired of the democratic party constantly finding something to whine about, but when they bring it into the classroom, that is enough. Teachers have the likely chance to change students lives and to be almost as influential as parents are, and when they hand out articles that show blatant disrespect towards our president and just say a bunch of fake stuff bout him, I’m mad. I’m already fed up with the kids at my school, what more the teacher who is going to tell me my president is a hateful bigot who deserves to be kicked out of office? Some girl already threatened to shoot me just because I told her I support the police. I face constant discrimination, even among my peers for my political views, threats to get beat up, threats to get terribly injured, killed even, whatever. Why would kids do this to me? Who instructs them and tells them to think that all conservative Americans are a waste? I know for one, that teachers are definitely not innocent. I’m going to personally talk to my vice principal about this because this is pure bologna. If he can’t do anything, I’ll take it to the principal, the person who is above her, and even the head person in my school district. These schools are a liberal wasteland, they preach acceptance, peace, but yet I get threatened for stating my views. The teachers don’t give a lick about bringing in their political views because who cares? Politics has no place in a public classroom unless it is taught unbiased.

If anyone could leave any suggestions on what I should say (points, ideas, etc.) in an essay about this I will give to my principal, it would be much appreciated.

Here are direct quotes from the article she made us study:

(on DACA) “President Trump has called to end this program started by President Obama. He has also called for ending chain migration and the diversity lottery, in favor of a merit-based immigration policy.”

Notice how they try to make Trump look bad, but would not even educate the student on the other side of things, so we may see why the president acts the way he acts.

“Also up for debate is the building of the wall between the United States and Mexico do deter illegal immigration.”

Interesting that they bring that wall up, because Hillary supported building a wall in 2006! Look here:

“During his year in office, President Trump has kept these issues front and center, and has made strong remarks about who he does and doesn’t want to extend a welcome to in this country.”

Yeah, I don’t think welcoming the illegal immigrants freely is a good idea.

Next they bash conservatives.

“Those who believe that high numbers of immigrants take jobs from native-born Americans and/or negatively alter American culture and society, generally call for stricter border security.”

Oh yes, what kind of biased article would this be without calling people racist? All people who support the wall are racist because we all think immigrants negatively impact American culture. This is terrible, I’m an immigrant and know people who think we should be tighter on boarder security aren’t racist.

There’s a lot more, but I’ve been typing for a while now. Tell me what you think.

I think you should tell your parents about the threats and they should have a discussion with your teachers and the school administrators.

I have a great idea.
How about you realize politics is of this world, remember that you will soon graduate, pray for everyone involved including the President, your teacher, the police, and the girl who threatened to shoot you, and then just let it go and move on?

I’m sorry that you have felt threatened. School should be a safe place for students of BOTH or ALL sides of the political spectrum without blaming or bullying… The teacher in my opinion should be neutral when discussions of this type come up and I know they do come up just in conversation. But if she is purposely bringing up one side by supplying worksheets for you to comment on then she at least should see your side and allow you to speak your mind and the other students to speak theirs. She should be impartial. It is good to hear both sides, all arguments. It used to be done in debate classes… I’m with the other responder who suggested you tell your parents. Also, going to the AP or the Principal would normally be the right step. And go to the Superintendent of Schools if you must. Still, I will pray for you because I know you are not the only one suffering from the ways of the world…

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy on our children and on the whole world.

If people are threatening to beat you up or shoot you, that should be reported to school authorities and the police.

. Tell me what you think.
Those quotes you gave are pretty solid and well-balanced. They only say what Trump has said and done. The quote you say is “bashing conservatives” simply states what many conservatives believe.

I think you’re wildly overreacting to these readings. You’re looking for things that aren’t there, maybe because you don’t like the teacher. You need to concentrate on the real issues, like threats.

First thing is pray and come from a position of being at peace.

There is a lot to argue about and when you are young it can become a large (possibly detrimental) part of your life. I am a teacher and I see a Left led agenda in the classroom. There is a fight in changing that but contrary to what it seems when you are young, generally, peaceful resistance works better than angry offense in this case.

Part of the push in education is for a Leftish hegemony. If you can remain calm, know your points well and simply refuse to be part of the hegemony you will upset these people no end. Much more than if you get angry and start becoming exasperated and possibly disorientated. Let them be the ones exasperated and disoriented. For that, you have to be the one who remains calm and resolute.

Try answering the questions set. Don’t be over the top antagonistic but genuinely answer the questions and leave it to your teacher to be the one to instigate (any) conflict. When she/he does, stay calm and when she/he starts to change the topic, quietly bring it back to what you have written.

So :

DACA - talk about the benefits of a merit based policy as opposed to alternatives. Talk about the DACA program being a problem started by previous administrations and which Trump inherited and is trying to fix. Talk about Trump wishing to have border security in exchange for DACA security. Talk about the dangers of having a DACA styled free pass on immigration policies. Be dispassionate.

The Wall - speak about others past supporting a wall such as Hillary. Mention the use of walls and fences in other jurisdictions as a normal policy and how affective it is. Talk about the importance of upholding the law, the justice of the welfare state, the responsibility of government to citizens and tax payers and the dangers of unchecked open borders. Be dispassionate.

Welcome into the country - draw a distinction between welcoming someone into the country as a tourist, as a business trip and as a legal migrant and as someone who is circumventing American law. Speak about how the Trump administration welcomes so many people into the country in the former categories but like all countries this is not extended to anyone who wants to enter. Be dispassionate.

Just in case you missed it I would advise being dispassionate both in your essay and in any discussion afterwards. When others use language and examples to bolster their case, of course you can engage but always bring it back to your points. You will find probably that they will only talk about their points in which case peaceful resistance in not agreeing with the hegemony may be all that is possible for you in the school situation you have outlined.

Peace and good luck.

Carry a can of pepper spray for self defense. Call the police about these threats. Making death threats against people is illegal.

Pepper spray is considered a weapon (in Michigan schools.) Do not carry and risk expulsion.

Thank you all for the replies!
Then the OP should learn a good martial art. I like fightwithice.com
Haha, I already do. One crazy lady started to chase and scratch me really deep after school and those roundhouse kicks come in handy. I still have 2 scars on my neck from that. RIP me.
