I really botched the first attempt by missing one of the best and most obvious mystics, so here is the poll, version 2.0 - who is your favorite mystic in the Church???

You had a “none of the above” option on the last one. I voted for that, and would do so again, but the option isn’t here this time. Here’s what I posted in the last version:

"Left out Sts. Francis of Assisi, Clare of Assisi, Bonaventure, Thomas Aquinas, Bernard of Clairvaux, Therese of Lisieux, etc. Not to mention the numerous Eastern and Oriental Christian saints and mystics (most of whom are also recognized by the Catholic Chruch).

For my part, if I had to choose one I’d say St. Francis of Assisi. He’s been my best friend and constant companion since I was about 4 years old."

I’d chose in the poll St John of the Cross

my favorites also are Dionysius the Areopagite, St Bonaventure, Meister Eckhart, Johannes Tauler and blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity.

How about - All of Them:D:thumbsup:

I chose St Catherine of Sienna just because what I like how the dialogues are written in “first person - God”…and the explanations just seem to make so much sense.

But really - to try to pick a “favorite”…I’d like to say, “all of them”.

Peace
James

Interesting list but what happened to the first thousand years of Church history? I vote St. John Cassianus the Ascetic.

Out of the ones listed in the poll, there’s little doubt that St. Catherine is my favorite, for very obvious reasons.

Hey everybody, thanks for all the feedback. I guess for this list of mystics, I was thinking more in terms of visions, mystical theology, etc. I should have included St. Francis…
Next time right?:o
