Okay, Lost fans, what do you think of Sawyer now? I hate him. If there’s anyone I want off that island, it’s definitely that jerk!

I couldn’t stand Sawyer for awhile there in the beginning - then he sort of grew on me - now after last week (the gun episode) - I can’t stand him again. Although what was up with that… ? Why does he want all the guns (I suppose the power?) but why does he want everyone to hate him like that? Especially now when it seemed that Kate was more into him - rather than Jack? And how easy would it be for everyone to gang up on him & get that gun back - like when he’s sleeping? And what’s up with Charley? Has he gone totally mad? I don’t underestand the direction the show is going… it’s sort of bugging me.

You have to admit he’s smooth. I love that he got one over on Locke and Ana-Lucia, who I can’t stand. The only thing I was really dissapointed in was that he gave Charlie the heroine (but did Sawyer know the statue was full of heroine? I can’t remember.)

I think Sawyer’s flashback sequence has been one of the more interesting ones, especially this past Wednesday’s episode. The writers should stick with storylines like this; and not try to put anymore erroneous theology into Mr. Echo’s mouth like they did the other night when he was discussing Jesus’ baptism. I really like Echo and hope they don’t do anymore damage to him.

I missed the Jesus’ baptism discussion… was it totally off base?

Also, this is confusing me… isn’t Echo described as a “Priest?” I thought it was his brother who was the Priest???

Yes, he said when John baptised Jesus he washed His sins away.

In Echo’s flashback episode, it showed that his brother actually was the priest and that Echo was involved with this really dangerous gang of some sort, because of an incident that happened in their childhood.

He asked his brother to sign some false documents that would state Echo and his friends were priests, so they could transport heroine under the disguise of transporting statues of the Blessed Mother (the same plane on the island that Boone and Locke discovered). At the airstrip, Echo and his buddies were loading the plane with the ‘statues’, when the military comes charging in to stop them. Echo’s brother had called them, he’d changed his mind, and realized he’d made a huge mistake. His brother, the priest, was shot, and killed and placed on the plane. Echo stayed behind and was, of course, dressed as a priest. When the military got to him, they thought he was the priest who’d called them. He and Charlie burned the plane on the same episode. My opinion is that he was so sorrowful and repentant for causing the death of his brother, that he started living the life of a priest from that moment on. Maybe soon, we’ll find out that he did turn his life around completely and was actually, eventually ordained a priest. Charlie asked Echo if he was a priest and he said, yes, but we don’t know yet for sure if he is one. I’d hate to think he was lying to Charlie.

There have been a couple of other errors in regard to Catholicism. They were discussed here in another “Lost” thread.

Back to Sawyer…

He’s definitely a baddie.

But he’s so GOOD at being bad! Ya gotta love characters that are so good at what they do even if you’d want to strangle them if they were real live people.

I never used to think that about characters. I used to just love or hate them. But after the Cigarette Smoking Man on the X-Files, I learned that there’s nothing like a good bad guy/gal.
