In John 5:3-5, there is a place refered to as the Pool of Bethesda, where an angel would go down periodically, stir the water, then the first person who reached the water would be cured of whatever ailed them. This tiny reference peaked my interest. Is there any more information about this, or is this just a wierd biblical mystery moment?

There is some question as to whether this portion of John was a later addition as apparently the oldest manuscripts do not contain verses 4 and part of verse 3. Most modern translations note this with a footnote.
