Has anyone read the Pope’s homily on Sunday?

He gave some good pastoral counsel to the youth but it applies to all of us.

To paraphrase, he told us to:

Receive the Eucharist, joyfully.

Rediscover the sacrament of Reconciliation.

Lead others to Christ.

Read the Scriptures.

Study the Cathechism.

Form communities based on faith.

Preserve communion with the Pope and with the Bishops.

Sound advice, don’t you think?

I’d like to discuss the phrase, “form communities based on faith.” It seems like he is promoting the creation of small groups within the parish. I know this goes on already but I think he wants to see it increase. We have some in our parish but not enough.

Do you have small groups in your parish? (In the Evangelical community, they are called by many different names: cell groups; fellowship groups; small groups. Bible studies and prayer groups could fall under this category.

Father Benedict Groeschel is involved in this movement through the Oratory of Divine Love. Is anyone familiar with this movement?

Blessings,
Gene
