This is quite an uncharitable comment. You are judging a man and not his actions with this kind of statements. It looks like him being gay does not allow him to do anything right. If that is true then you are siding with the Italian homosexual community that is still blasting Zeffirelli for the support of the Church on Her positions on homosexuality.
How can one be openly gay and support the the Church’s position on homosexuality? That is quite a contradiction.

You are correct, and I am glad that sometime people doing wrong may see what the Truth is about!

That’s good that he sees the truth, but if he acts on his inclinations he is still engaging in an intrinsically evil act, one that is a mortal sin. So I fail to see how Caesar’s post is in any way uncharitable. He’s just calling a spade a spade.

Of course it’s not a contradiction. One can be homosexual by inclination, but not act on it. Or have I misunderstood? Are we talking about those who engage in homosexual acts?

The term “gay” is generally reserved for those who act on homosexual desires, but is not generally used for those who have such desires but do not act on them because they do not want to sin.

And he appears to imply to the fact that the individual cannot do right because he is gay. If that is correct that it also implies that the individual cannot change and be saved anymore.

APPEARS TO IMPLY = key words. I’m pretty sure what Caesar intended was that it would be scandalous for a Pope to take advice on how to dress from an openly gay man. I completely agree with him here. You’re reading way too much into things.

How about churches that are designed and decorated by gay persons?

Should we burn half of Rome?:banghead: :bigyikes: :hypno: :doh2: :whacky:

1- So I read too much into it (probably true) but you know what is in his mind.

2- You are saying that people would leave the Church (that is what scandal is about) because the Pope would listen to a gay man (name removed by moderator)ut.

I was not aware, neither would I care, that Zeffirelli is “gay”. Whomever posted this committed the sin of detraction or worse, slander. What is more, others have taken up the thread and perpetuated it.

It is a mystery to me how people who enjoy criticizing anyone and everyone, including the pope, who does not agree with their tastes, (another sin), have no qualms about showing thier own weaknesses and faults.

Such is the problem of the internet, as now such things are rendered public everywhere

The Vatican is hiring a new image director for Pope Benedict XVI, and here’s what he has to say about the Pope’s traditional vestments:

ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/entertainment_vatican_pope_cinema_religion

The pope’s robes are “too sumptuous and flashy,” the 84-year-old director of “Jesus of Nazareth” and “Romeo and Juliet” told the daily La Stampa. They should instead reflect “the simplicity and sobriety seen in the other echelons of the Church,” he said.

gag
:banghead:

Things were going so well! What is the Vatican thinking hiring this guy? And since when does the Vicar of Christ need an image consultant?
Why on earth does His Holiness need an image consultant?

He doesn’t. He won’t have one. Some guy made some random remarks about how the Pope ought to dress, it got picked up by a bored news outlet, and people are freaking out over it. This is not a story. Calm down. 🙂
