I personally think that Cardinal McCarrick should resign because he refuses to follow canon law. It is a scandal and an outrage that he deliberately refused to read Cardinal Ratzinger’s letter that “pro-abortion canadites cannot recieve communion” in the Bishops conference. He said he didn’t “want a fight at the communion rail.” Sad to say, would you want someone in the military who constantly acted defiantly towards authority. If he calls himself christian he will get up there and be a shepard! Instead of being a coward.

Cardinal McCarrick’s resignation not yet accepted by Pope.

I also think he owes American Catholics a public apology. I have to yet to hear one.

He have made mistakes, yet papa Ben XVI is asking him to continue. i don’t know much the story behind cardinal McCarrick, but I do trust Pope Benedict XVI’s judgement and you should not be so readily critical of both or either.

When it comes to a cardinal, it is up to the pope to decide on discipline (or Lord Jesus Himself), not to the people of the church. To openly and so harshly critize them is to undermine our very church and ourselves.

We know where Cardinal McCarrick has lead us. Pope Benedict’s reception, or rejection, of his resignation will give us a strong clue as to where the Pope is leading us.

The Holy Spirit leads us. God has a purpose for having the people in charge who He does. It may not seem right, now, but at the end of time when all is revealed, it will make sense. Pray that the right thing be done, and that we have the courage to accept it even if it doesn’t ‘feel’ right.

You should read this. No disrespect to Papa Benedict intended. Just simply stating that Cardinal McCarrick’s neglegence in his ministry to help the unborn.

That little piece really doesn’t add too much information for me.

I’m glad to hear you mean no disrespect to our Holy Father.

Who is Judie Brown? Why would she have more respect and authority than Papa Benedict XVI or even* any * cardinal?

Also, Crow there is a section on American Life league I think you ought to read.

Do not presume to know as much as the Pope when it comes to these matters. To make a statement like yours implying judgement on the Pope, God’s chosen, by you, a disciple, based on an action (or inaction) on his part, for which you do not have complete information is quite arrogant on your part.

Tread carefully, my brother in Christ.

Having recently read *The Salt of the Earth * by Pope Benedict, I believe that the Holy Spirit led us to select him as the successor to St. Peter. I am confident that this prayerful, humble man is more capable than I am to discern God’s will in this situation.

I’ll continue praying for our shepherds here and in Rome.
