It was a pretty good movie, but I didn’t love it. I guess because I’m not that crazy about John Voight, I didn’t enjoy him in the role of Pope John Paul that much. He did a pretty good job, though. Have you seen “The Making of the Pope”? I’m not sure if that’s the exact title, but it’s something like that. I’m not even sure of the lead actor’s name, but it was a really good movie. It was primarily about his life before he became pope, & it was really interesting.

I saw the one with Carry Elwes(The guy from the Princess Bride). It was pretty good. It is simply called, “Pope John Paul II”. Here is a link to a site that gives info on it.

I didn’t like it at all. There are much better movies out about John Paul II.

That is the one with Jon Voight also. I thought he played a very good part as the older JPII. I think he was critically acclaimed for his performance too.

Yeah the one with Cary Elwes and Voight is the same movie.

I thought it was pretty good, certainly better than the ABC one made around the same time.

For me, Elwes’ peformance as the young Karol was excellent.

If you can afford it, buy it. 😃

Andrew

P.S. If you do buy it dont go to walmar or anything like that, most Catholic online stores/bookshops carry it. I saw the link just the other day(if you need me to I could hunt for the link)

I like Witness to Hope. It is based on the George Weigle Book. I think it was on PBS a long time ago, but it should be available from Catholic vendors. All real photos and film clips. The first time I saw it I cried for the Polish People. It ends about yr. 2002.

Here is a link to a product on ebay, I could not find it listed anywhere else. No warrenties expressed or implied…

I have to say, Michael C. reminded me of the real title of the film I was thinking of when I posted the other day. I agree with him, “Karol: The Man Who Became Pope” was so excellent.

After Michael C.'s post reminded me of the real title, I found it online. It stars Piotr Adamczyk as Pope John Paul. One site, I think it was www.popedocumentary.com, said that Adamczyk is a Polish actor. He got to meet Pope John Paul ll before the film was made, & was with Pope Benedict when he viewed the film. Pope John Paul evidently said something like, ‘What are you going to make a movie about me for? What have I done?’

It really is so well done, & somehow just made me love & miss Pope John Paul even more.
