Now when Pope Francis when he got to office, the Protestants claimed that he was the antichrist like they have to every pope since the 16th century

But one thing I do see, is that the pope unwillingly makes a mental image similar to the introduction of new age philosophy

One thing is all these ads and the pope visit to other religious leaders and people.

And that is fine, thing is dialogue and debate.

And heck saying we all have the same father… is kind of weird , but you can argue that god is the father of all of us.

But to say we all have the same fathers who we adore is pushing it a little too far.

But i mean i kind of seem like the typical introduction to new age philosophy of course not in the level of TD jakes or oprah winfrey which is really a new ager.

And to be fair the pope denies self-reliance and self-help ( 2 key aspects of new age philosophy)

But francis does say that it’s a “primacy” of using one’s conscience to navigate tough moral questions.

Which kind sounds like the 3rd aspect of self-esteem and the higher conscious or at least the introduction to it, that our consciousness is what guide us through moral question and then they introduce levels of consciousness .

But the idea of new ages is also about doctrines and believes rather than the labels.

Since at the core of their philosophy is the integration of all religions, mythology superstation and the occult.

Like I said francis does really paint the initial state of this by saying things like we all worship the same god.

Note I don’t claim that pope francis is a new ager far from it he denies many aspects of the philosophy ,but it just seems like he is doing things a little weirdly

Which if a catholic sees this, and thinks its normal, so he might fall in to the rabbit hole of the new age.

And I can see but not agree with a protean argument that this looks like the parable of cooking the frog with first lukewarm water and then it solely boils.

In this case the new agers could act like pope Francis say things like him at first saying some controversial things but still with scripture and the church but slowly and surely pull them in to their believe.

So what is your opinion on this? do you think by that the pope is unwillingly helping this group by his actions?

I’m sorry but I’m not understanding this at all.
Using your conscience to resolve tough moral questions isn’t a new concept and is what we’re supposed to do. It’s why we have a conscience and we’re supposed to work constantly at developing it.
How is it “new age”?

in sumarry the pope does and says some questionable things that can unwillingly endanger catholics and make new age gurus sound not so “radicial” to a catholic at least introcution of the belif.

well the catholics and chirstians alike belive that our why we have a conscience and we’re supposed to work constantly at developing it. but we devolp it by follwing the word of god .

the new age has a similar idea but replaces god in the equation with you the person , and you have to work constanly to devolp it , not by follwing the word of god but by achiving a higher level .

OK, what I’m getting from this is you think the Pope does questionable things and advocates new age behavior by telling us to follow our conscience.

I respectfully disagree. I do not think the Pope has ever done or said anything remotely new-agey in this regard.

no … i said that some of his words and actions are similar to new age introduction (but he does not belive in it) and therefore , catholics can be more easealy decived by new age gurus.

in terms of conceusness but mostly in the terms saying things like all religions worship the same god.

example a new age guru can say:

"all religions worship the same god even your pope tells you that ", and then the catholic maybe decieved
by that and slowly become a new age beliver
so that is what iam referring to

The Pope has never said that “all religions worship the same god”.

The Catholic Catechism teaches that the Catholics, the Jewish people and the Muslims all worship the Creator and hold the faith of Abraham. (Edited slightly for wording.) That is what the Pope teaches also.

that is it , ie twisting the things the pope says to make it sound more like new age theology

and since the pope reuinites with many religuous leaders why could a catholic fall for that?

If somebody wants to twist the words of the Pope, that’s not his fault and he can’t do much about it.

If someone wants to know the teachings of the Church then all they need to do is open the Catholic Catechism and read it. It’s available free online. That way, we don’t have to worry about if the Pope was misquoted or said something that wasn’t totally clear.

well the pope can at least word himself better or outrigth condem the people who do belive he is a supporter of the new age movement

and also you can misquote other documents like

“The Catholic Church rejects nothing that is true and holy in these religions. She regards with sincere reverence those ways of conduct and of life, those precepts and teachings which, though differing in many aspects from the ones she holds and sets forth, nonetheless often reflect a ray of that Truth which enlightens all men.”

if i take this out of context it seems really similar to new age, the point of the matter at for me is that the catholic church can be used by new ager belivers to decive catholics , but i hope its not the case.

i was looking for an opinion if the popes bad wording if you can call it that and public image make it easier for the new age gurus to misquote him and the use the church to promete the new age belif

but your response is still intresting and quite helpfull thanks

Are you serious? Okay, conscience does sound a bit like conscious and consciousness, at least in the English language, but if someone confuses these terms, it’s not Pope Francis’ fault or his responsibility to correct people’s understanding of these English words. (I think he speaks Argentinian dialect of Spanish, and Italian.)

yeah ,i mean its worse in spanish since consciente y consiencia are even more similar
in fact is the correct adjetive of conciencia is consciente .
