Anyone else bothered by the Pope saying the church is his?

The Pope said: “I say this because it is my church”

No one owns the church except Jesus. Jesus said it was HIS church in this bible quote:

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. MATT 16:18

taking his statement in context, I take it as, he’s making it clear he isn’t talking about others in other Churches, but his own Church.

I don’t take it as (owner) but member.

Haven’t we all said at times “that’s my Church” or “that’s my parish”

👍 I agree.

You need to stay where you can verify stuff you hear about Pope Francis in context and from Catholic sources. The secular and n-C media tend to misrepresent him on a regular (and sometimes intentional) basis.
