Hi , because it not family it’s the pope , a reminder of what ?
Well I’m Canadian, and it’s not unknown for homes to have pictures of the queen in their homes as well. And technically she’s the “pope” of the Anglicans, the titular head of the Church of England.

I personally don’t have pictures of either the pope or the queen in my home 🤷

It’s not required in any case.

I have to disagree on the “not family” comment. I believe the Catholic Church is a huge spiritual family. The meaning of Pope is “father,” isn’t it? 🙂

I’m sure what everyone meant is that we aren’t related to the Pope by blood.

To remind me to pray for him, all clergy and for the salvation of all.

Pope Benedict blessed our (my wife and I) marriage, but I would have one of him regardless. I also have pictures/icons of various saints. They are TRUE family, are they not?

Hi thanks for response , I will make an appointment to talk to the preist soon , I think it’s to late to join RCIA and everyone will already know people and in smaller groups etc I will next time Though 🙂
Chuck, as I told you, most RCIA programs start in September. It may not be too late. If you are allowed to attend, it will make a big difference in your understanding of Catholicism as topics will be addressed in an organized, cohesive manner.

Also, attending does not mean you are committing to becoming Catholic, but you will get a better understanding of Catholicism. RCIA and attending mass regularly, will help you decide if you actually do want to convert.

Good luck!
