Pope: When faith becomes an ideology, it can make Christians hostile and arrogant

However, what definition of “ideology” is Pope Francis using? What is the difference between someone with strong faith called to defend pro-life issues in the public square, etc.

This sounds like another “who am I to judge comment.” A comment where taking the time to really learn what he is saying will lead to some excellent learning. However, these comments seemed to be phrased in such a way that it is open to easier twisting into something the Pope never meant to say.

I’m not saying Pope Francis is a bad Pope, I am saying that either the Pope or someone doing the translating is using comments which the public media piranha can exploit.

I’m wondering if there is a disconnect between what the Pope is saying and how the Western media and the audience is interpreting it. There’s really no question in my mind the mainstream Western media wants to nudge the Catholic Church in the progressive direction, and that is part of the problem. The other part of the problem is some people only read the headline (not that all these articles are worth reading), and writes have caught onto that and run with it.
