Pope's book on Jesus, 2006

I read about ten pages in the book store.

It really got my attention.

Any ideas about the rest of the book.

I hope to buy it next week.

In my opinion, his book Jesus of Nazareth should be required reading. It is an excellent read and one I’m sure will endure throughout the ages. I understand he is writing a second volume, but I haven’t heard when it will be published.

I have read about two thirds of it. What a great book! It has opened my eyes to things I really did not understand before. It Has also changed the way I look at the Tabernacle, now I actually am even more keenly aware of Christ always being present and feel His presence. As if I am actually sensing Him physically and Spiritually to a greater level. It is hard to pin it down.

The only recommendation I have is skip the Introduction. it is hard reading and boring, at least for me.

It is an excellent book. I highly recommend it. I bought the paper version, but I also have the unabridged audiobook version and have ‘listened’ to it several times. I wish you a joyous and blessed Christmas season, and a new year filled with happiness, peace, and a rich devotional life!

I’m looking forward to the 2nd volume very much myself! The first volume was excellent, and the next volume will deal more with the Incarnation.

The book is particularly valuable to Catholics who have been subjected to bad historical/critical interpretations of the Bible. There is way too much of that around-- even here on these forums. It puts those critical methods in perspective, and illustrates their limits. It also is reassuring to see our Pope discuss the Biblical Jesus with such depth and Truthfulness!

The Bible is God. Jesus is God. The Bible is Jesus.

I guess that makes sense, with Jesus being known as the “Word of God”.

There is something else about the book. It is a feeling.
The action of the reading caused peace in my spirit while I was doing it.

The moral of the story seems to be to read the bible, and you will actually be
experiencing Jesus. Yet I don’t always feel that way reading the bible, especially
in violent parts.

Bibliolatry is just another one of what?
There IS no other book like the Bible.
It is “magic”.
Before I could pray much, the Bible made me “hear” what God had to say to me.
The bible is precious to me, and I do not believe it possible to have excessive
devotion, reliance and respect for it.
It is the greatest gift next to Christ in the flesh, and I pray it is received by all
with reverence.
