This popular talk show host has been on the airwaves for years. Why does she find lesbian offensive if she is openly gay?
He was fired for a disparaging remark - he called her a “fat lesbian”. As Christians, I think that we can agree that this is mean and uncalled for. However, I think the standards for radio talk show hosts need to be consistent across the board. For example, Jay Severin (a well known Boston radio talk show host on 96.9 FM) frequently refers to certain political leaders (ex., Hillary Clinton) in disparaging and offensive ways (including remarks about her weight) and no one calls for his resignation. So it’s clear that Ms. Ross’s status as a lesbian did make a difference in this case. Why? Both instances of mean behavior are wrong so why is a different standard applied - because in our politically correct culture, making fun of gay people is the equivalent of a hate crime.

I agree, I do not care one bit for Ms. O’ Donnell and her forcing the gay lifestyle on folks.
On the other hand, We as Christians, should rise above it and not resort to her crude style. Name calling is just uncalled for.
BTW I watched The View on day (I just had to see it:o ) she is talking about her “wife” and “in-laws”. Sometimes I think she does this for shock value.

John DePetro is one of the most respectful local talk show host on WRKO… Apparently the heat in these election got to him. It is an extremely rare comment.

Howie Carr from WRKO, uses one of his listener’s remarks as a lead-in to his show which is “You fat bastard”.

The issue is exactly that; Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen can talk about their “wives” and family and that is OK on national TV with every child listening but a local host slips and makes an untasteful comment and he is fired.

Yes, but my sense of talk radio is that hosts aim to be impolite and outrageous to attract listeners. I think Mr DePetro doing just that. Unfortunately for him, he wasn’t on the same page with his employers.
