For example, Jay Severin (a well known Boston radio talk show host on 96.9 FM) frequently refers to certain political leaders (ex., Hillary Clinton) in disparaging and offensive ways (including remarks about her weight) and no one calls for his resignation. So it’s clear that Ms. Ross’s status as a lesbian did make a difference in this case. Why? Both instances of mean behavior are wrong so why is a different standard applied - because in our politically correct culture, making fun of gay people is the equivalent of a hate crime.
