How does one prove pornography is wrong from a secular point of view, starting from the one point that an atheist is likley to concede.

1.) All human beings are equal.

There are many reasons that work well for a secular argument. The first being that it turns people into objects and teaches others to treat them and view them as such. I have read stories from former porn stars where they talk about how unhappy everyone was and how common drug and alcohol abuse are. They know that they are being used and they have to be drunk or high to be able to perform. There is a good website that someone posted on this forum a while back, but I can’t remember the name of it. I think the woman who runs it has the first name of Shelby, but I don’t recall her last name. Anyway, if someone else knows that site, they can post it on here.

Also, Ted Bundy did say that without exception, every murderer he met in prison had a pornography addiction.

In Christ,
Rand

Also, there is a high level of violence done to the women in the porn industry. Read the stories from former porn “actors”.

Even an atheist will admit that abuse towards women is wrong (least we hope so).

Just look for books or articles written by or about “porn stars”. Even a cursory look at such materials will clearly show that the porn industry is poisonous to those who live it. I wrote a paper on it back in college. I didn’t use a single “religious” source. I only used secular books and articles from those who are/were involved in it. And the picture it painted was both clear and frightening.

Using the stating point of all humans being equal, the large majority of pornography is extremely degrading to women. I believe it’s also degrading to men, but most men I’ve ever talked to don’t take it that way. Instead of sex being a beautiful joining of two people, it’s a means to an end for pleasure. That turns people into objects.
