Can anyone suggest a study guide or “daily biblical quote of the day” book that uses positive uplifting biblical quotes? (As opposed to ones that are generic, doctrinal, etc.) I need positive daily reinforcement and the ones I’ve glanced through in the bookstore just don’t fit the bill.

no doubt there are many, I would suggest visiting a Christian bookstore with an evangelical tone, and looking for various “devotional” bibles aimed at certain classes of people, and the many daily bible devotionals aimed at “healing”, “counselling”, “positive thinking” etc.

for myself, I prefer to pray with the universal Church the psalms and scripture readings of the Liturgy of the Hours, so that I am not focusing on my own needs, or looking for what I want to hear in scripture, dictating to God how He shall speak to me.

I’m not sure if this is what you might be looking for but it’s nice and I use it: “The Word Among Us”…A daily approach to Prayer & Scripture:

one you might like that is Catholic is One Bread One body from Presentation Ministries in Cincinnati, it has a meditation of the daily scripture, plus a “thought for the day” and a “Message for the day” kind of a disciple tip, oriented to healing, discipleship, charismatic gifts. low cost, they ask only a donation to cover expenses, good for evangelization

If Catholic, I would not recommend a Protestant source for Scripture reading. I had some but the commentary that goes along with it is so…well… Protestant. It also would quote wonderful Scripture refering to the body and blood and not even get the point. I personally will stick with Catholic Christian sources for inspiring works and words. If you want daily Scripture, just read the gospel reading for the day.

Paulist National Catholic Evangelistic assn ha s a great one that I’ve liked for about 2 years. pncea.org/

Father Al Lauer’s group Presentation Ministries in Cincinnati publishes a pamphlet One Bread One Body every two months, with refrences to daily readings, a devotional commentary, thought for the day, disciple tip for the day. www.presentationministries.com

I also like the Paulist publication, “Share the Word.”
