Is it possible by some form of divine revelation, that new scriptures could be added to the bible? If there were some authentic visions say such as those at Fatima or those that put the motion in for Divine Mercy Sunday called for an additional book of scripture, could it happen?

No, the scripture that we have today has been infallibly defined. I imagine that if an apparition were to add a new book, it would not be approved.

😃 :rotfl: :rotfl: Giggle!!!

However, some of these readings certainly are worthwhile, especially the Didache, which was a very early compilation of Jesus’s sayings.

Just because something is not included in the Bible does not mean it is not worthwhile.

Heyyyy whats so funny? I’m just saying that if an apparition added a new book, the apparition wouldn’t be approved.

No, the canon of scripture was closed in the 4-5th century, and confirmed at the Council of Trent, universal divine revelation ceased with the death of the last apostle.

And all other revelations are private revelations, some of which have been recognised by the church. None of them belong to the deposit of faith of the church. It is not the place of any private revelation to improve or complete Christ’s definitive revelation although they may help the individual to live more holy lives.

Holy Church cannot accept ‘revelations’ that claim to surpass or correct the revelation of which Christ alone is the fulfilment. Hence no new Gospels or books of Holy Scripture since the Bible is the divine and innerrant Word of God and He has already given us what He wants us to know for our Salvation.
