Car crash kills 2 seminary students

Two men studying to be priests were killed and two other students face reckless homicide, weapons and other charges after a car they were riding in crashed on the grounds of a Roman Catholic seminary in Mundelein.
Matthew Molnar, 28, of Overland Park, Kan., and Jared Cheek, 23, of St. Mary, Kan., sustained fatal injuries about 1:45 a.m. Thursday when a car they were riding in hit a tree at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, officials said.
Molnar, a third-year seminarian, sustained multiple traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. Thursday at Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, officials said. Cheek died at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, according to hospital officials.
The car’s driver also was a seminarian, Robert Spaulding, 27, of Evansville, Wyo., authorities said. A fourth student, Mark Rowlands, 36, of Columbus, Ohio, was sitting in the front passenger seat
