yesterday, i went in to have an ablation and resection. i did some research on the internet the night before i was scheduled to go in. i found out that fibroids can always grow back even if you have them removed. well, i spoke to the surgeon yesterday before i was due to go in for surgery. he got angry with me! 
i told him that i wanted a hysterectomy 3 times before this surgery. he flat out refused to give me one as he only wanted to remove the fibroids and the lining of the uterus. these fibroids have caused my uterus to be the size of a football, and i have far to many of them, and i am suffering horrendous pain, and yesterdays surgery would not have eliminated the problem.
he said, if you have cancer, i will do a radical hysterectomy. i said, doc, at least do the biopsy, and he refused. he got livid with me!! he embarrassed me in front of 4 nurses and my husband! he was rude and condescending! its MY body doctor! not yours! if he did not want to solve my problem once and for all, then he should not have told me to come in for surgery.
i told him before and thrice, that i did not want the resection and the ablation. i wanted a hysterectomy. period. i thought what he wanted to do was the right thing until i started looking on the net.
ablation does not guarentee that a woman will no longer have periods. even if he had taken out all of my fibroids, they would come back. why? because they do when it comes to me.
i wanted a permanent solution! so please, pray that i can find a competent surgeon who will listen to me! and do that biopsy! not just that please pray that the surgeon who saw me loses his arrogant attitude and learns to listen to his patients!
by the way, iam infertile and there is no chance for children. so i wanted to get that out there before someone decides to blast me for wanting a hysterectomy.
