I am posting a prayer for our Holy Father Benedict XVI. It was his birthday a few days ago, and today is the 5th anniversary of his election. He has been under attack due to the scandals in the Church, so he needs our prayers more that ever.

Prayer for Pope Benedict XVI

Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to Your shepherd, the Pope, a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love.

By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care may he, as successor to the apostle Peter and vicar of Christ, build Your church into a sacrament of unity, love, and peace for all the world.

We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. +

Hail Mary full of grace
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to Your protection, implored Your help, or sought Your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To You we come; before You we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in Your mercy, hear and answer us.

Oh Mother of God, pray constantly for our Holy Father Benedict XVI, that he may continue always to serve as an example of authentic Christianity and lead Christ’s flock boldly towards their salvation.

Amen.

‘“May prayer strengthen us for the spiritual battle we are told about in the Letter to the Ephesians: ‘Draw strength from the Lord and from His mighty power’ (Ephesians 6:10). The Book of Revelation refers to this same battle, recalling before our eyes the image of St. Michael the Archangel (Revelation 12:7). Pope Leo XIII certainly had a very vivid recollection of this scene when, at the end of the last century, he introduced a special prayer to St. Michael throughout the Church. Although this prayer is no longer recited at the end of Mass, I ask everyone not to forget it and to recite it to obtain help in the battle against forces of darkness and against the spirit of this world.”’
Code:
Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

God bless! +

O Jesus, full of grace and charity, victim for sinners,
so impelled by Your love of us that
You willed to die on the cross.
You glorified in heaven and on
earth, the servant of God, Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcilna,
who generously participated in Your sufferings,
who loved You so much and labored so faithfully
for the glory of Your heavently
Father and for the good of souls.
With confidence, I beseech You to grant me,
through his powerful intercession,
the grace of giving the necessary strength to our Pope Benedict XVI,
to guide him in his ruling of our Church,
that our parishioners do not leave our faith,
but make our Church strong and renew,
For my special son and for all the people afflicted for different reasons,
For the peace in this world,
which I ardently desire.
Amen.

Saint Padre Pio, pray for us.
