Dear friends

Would you all like to join me in prayer for vocations especially to the Priesthood throughout Lent, after which this thread can continue if people want it to?

If any of you know of any specific prayers or novenas for vocations, please post them.

I know many of you in this Eucharistic Year are making Holy Hours before the Blessed Sacrament, in your prayers there please remember to petition Our Father, through Christ Our Lord, for vocations.I also note that there is a great love and devotion to the Rosary by the posters here, please remember to offer a Rosary for vocations. If you make a regular fast, offer it for vocations. If you are already doing this, God Bless you, if you are not please try and remember to do this.

I am looking forward to praying with all who post in this thread.

Thank you all in advance.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

Though I do not know any specific prayers for vocations off hand (one of them is in my Missal and I often pray that during a holy hour), I do say a prayer for “an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life” during the “prayers of the people” at daily mass. During Sunday Mass, I pray for more vocations silently to myself at that time.

I think it’s a great idea to really focus on vocations to the priesthood during Lent. I’m in and watching this thread for ideas 👍

This is a great idea for a thread! Personally I would appreciate prayers for vocations, as I am currently discerning God’s call in my life.

This is the prayer we use in our parish during our Eucharistic Adoration for vocations:

Pope John Paul II’s Prayer for Vocations

Holy and provident Father, you are the Lord of the vineyard and the harvest and you give each a just reward for their work. In your design of love you call men and women to work with You for the salvation of the world. We thank you for Jesus Christ, your living word, who has redeemed us from our sins and is among us to assist us in our poverty. Guide the flock to which you have promised possession of the kingdom. Send new workers into your harvest and set in the hearts of Pastors faithfulness to your plan of salvation, perseverance in their vocation and holiness of life.

Christ Jesus, who on the shores of the Sea of Galilee called the Apostles and made them the foundation of the Church and bearers of your Gospel, in our day, sustain your People on its journey. Give courage to those whom you call to follow you in the priesthood and the consecrated life, so that they may enrich God’s field with wisdom of your Word. Make them docile instruments of your love in everyday service of their brothers and sisters.

Spirit of holiness, who pour out your gifts on all believers and, especially, on those called to be Christ’s ministers, help young people to discover the beauty of the divine call. Teach them the true way of prayer, which is nourished by the Word of God. Help them to read the signs of the times, so as to be faithful interpreters of your Gospel and bearers of salvation.

Mary, Virgin who listened and Virgin of the Word of God made flesh in your womb, help us to be open to the Word of the Lord, so that, having been welcomed and meditated upon, it may grow in our hearts. Help us to live like you the beatitudes of believers and to dedicate ourselves with unceasing charity to evangelising all those who seek your Son. Grant that we may serve every person, becoming servants of the Word we have heard, so that remaining faithful to it we may find our happiness in living it.

Amen

This site also has the Holy Father’s prayers from the World Days for Vocations from the past 15 years or so.

The harvest is great, the laborers few
–Lord, send Holy laborers to your harvest.

A Prayer for Vocations

'Lord, help each of us to live the fullness of life by following your call. Send your Holy Spirit to guide those who are making life choices. We pray especially for those who are called to serve you in the Priesthood or Consecrated life; may they be supported in their vocations and truly be a sign of your love in the world.

Amen’

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Prayer For Vocations

"Lord Jesus Christ, shepherd of souls, who called the apostles to be fishers of men, raise up new apostles in your holy Church. Teach them that to serve you is to reign: to possess you is to possess all things.

Kindle in the hearts of our young people the fire of zeal for souls. Make them eager to spread your Kingdom upon earth. Grant them courage to follow you,

who are the Way, the Truth and the Life; who live and reign forever and ever.” Amen.

Saint Alphonsus and The Infant of Prague are the patron saints of Vocations…

The Vocational Agenda is much bigger than just needing priests, married people and sisters in Vocations…

The number of good seminaries has been significantly reduced. Also alot of Cardinals, Bishops and Vocational directors are not obedient to Rome and they have been still ordaning Liberal Gay men as Priests. The are nothing more than Heritics to put the word right…

Everything Pope Leo the VIII has come to pass. We need to build good seminaries and put forth the proper kinds of agendas in the church…

At the top of the Agenda should be Ministering to poor people and providing Catholic eductions so that people can egt away from the evil government and their agenda. Beyond that we should be feeding poor people and teaching them how to house themselves and take care of the nieghborhood. Also every time you go somewhere someone is trying to rip us off. We need to put the Jesus back in the agenda so people can run a buisiness and live in safe nieghborhoods again.

But if all these things will not come to pass. Jesus and God will Judge us and HUmanity will be at an end because we will continue to live at the end of times as prophesized in the book of Revelations.

Dear friend

Thank you I have noted your comments. This is a prayer thread not a discussion thread. Please open a thread on discussion of vocations if you wish so.

Thank you

God bless you and much love and peace to you

After every Mass, a priest I know says this short prayer for vocations:

Lord, give us priests.
Lord, give us holy priests.
Lord, give us traditional priests.
Lord, give us many holy religious vocations.
(responses in kind)

Simple and to the point.
The Rosary for vocations looks very good. I’ll have to remember it.
