Does anyone use a prayer journal or do bible journaling (or bible journaling in a separate book)? I am considering starting one but using my actual journal for both and I just wanted to see what others would do. I was thinking of using it for Lectio Divina and then maybe writing down my morning prayers. What do you think of all this? Do you do this? Do you find that it helps your prayer life?

Hi!
I had a hard time concentrating on my prayers, and back in January I started a journal for discernment that ended up being a prayer journal/letters to God that I try to write in daily. I also draw whenever the Holy Spirit gives me inspiration. Despite being a simple composition notebook, I found it helped me get my thoughts in order. I definitely found it helpful to improve my relationship with God. Sometimes I write my prayer intentions, and other times I just need to vent my feelings. I also jot down questions after reading a confusing Bible passage. It all just depends on what the Holy Spirit prompts me to do. I hope this helps. Good luck! 😇

I tried to keep a separate journal for various devotions and it just became too difficult. Now I have one journal and I use it for everything. I use composition books because they are cheap. I also tape pages or papers from other things into my journals. The only thing I am meticulous about is putting the date and what I’m doing, meditation, adoration, my women’s group, reading the bible or whatever.

Yes! Doing this has massively changed my prayer life and my time with God. I use a Traveler’s Notebook, so that I can designate each journal insert for it’s own thing. Such as writing down personal prayers in one, keeping track of prayer requests/intentions in another, Bible Journaling in another, and so on. The fun thing about a Traveler’s Notebook is that you can change out the inserts as often as you want or need to! And you can find inserts even, at the dollar store.
