Prayer need ASAP

Please pray for baby of Susan Torres, the brain-dead woman who died a month ago; baby reported very ill

Oh Lisa…if you get any info …please post…I’ll pray for her and family.
 
will be praying my rosary soon and will keep this dear child and her family in my prayer.
 
Thank you for letting us know. I have not heard about the baby’s sickness in the news. I sure hope the baby did not have any of the mom’s cancer cells. I’ll add the baby to my prayer list.

It sounds as if the baby had necrotizing enterocolitis. This is a common problem in preemies. This damages intestinal tissue and can be fatal. First treatments are IV therapy and antibiotics. Surgery can be needed to take out part of the intestine.

I really thought that she would make it. She sounded so vigorous when she was born. :crying:
 
:crying: I can’t believe it either, she is gone. Her father must be so crushed, we will keep him in our prayers. It’s almost like she belonged to all of us.
 
We now have another saint who we can ask to put in a good word to our Lord about stopping abortion. Little Susie, so sweet and innocent…please pray for all the parents who are thinking of aborting their babies. Whisper in their ears that you are so happy you had parents who loved you and wanted you to live. Please inspire one mother who is on her way to the clinic right this minute to stop and give her baby a chance. :angel1:

Preemies are so unpredictable. As a mother of a 26 week preemie like this one, it is a roller coaster ride. They will take 1 leap forward then 3 leaps back. Our daughter was in that exact same condition as baby Susan. We are blessed she made it and we are celebrating her 5th birthday Dec 23rd. She had the same exact thing too. Luckily the doctors put her on antibiotics right away and she was spared from surgery.

I am so sad for Mr. Torres and he will be kept in my prayers through this very rough time.

They may have put baby Susan on antibiotics, too. It sounds, though, as if this all happened so fast that surgery was needed right away. I’m so happy that your daughter did well and continues to do well.

You are right, preemies are very unpredictible. Even though they are doing so well at first, they can turn and die. And just the opposite sometimes, too. You are sure that they will die, but they live and do very well.

These infections come on very quickly. Doctors do everything they can to try to catch it in time, but sometimes the intensity varies too.

I volunteer at the NICU where our daugher was born. I talk to other parents and share my story with them. On a recent visit, a little girl was born same gestation and weight. Was doing GREAT for 15 days and took a bad turn. All I can try to do is offer hope for them.
