Prayer question for non believers

My sister’s family has lost their main income. Her husband has not had real job security for 8 years. He was let go again last Friday.

Is it insulting to God that I ask him for mercy in their situation? Sister is spiritual but not in a religion type and her husband is an atheist.

Ideally you would say pray for their conversion, but they also need food on the table.

Is it ok to pray for ungodly people who have no intention of being religious. She is spiritual but not into specific faith.

Shae, pardon for ignoring your address only to non-Catholics, but to pray for your non-believing relatives temporal is not an insult to God.

Please feel free to pray for both their temporal and their spiritual welfare.
Who knows what means God will use, in time, to save their souls?

God will use your prayers as their free will allows, and according to His purpose.
Charity doesn’t just extend to souls, but also temporal welfare. When Jesus in Matthew 25, verses 31-46, does not say that those who do practical acts of kindness (prayer or deed) for only believers will be saved. He doesn’t specify. He says that our kindness to others (any others) is kindness to Him.

Prayer is not an insult to God. Please do pray for your sister and family. You don’t know how that just might be part of their eventual conversion. Ask for God to help them in their time of need and then let Him do His part.
