NCSue,

Hopefully all went well in the past few days.

Be assured of my prayers for Jeff and his family and … all in prison.

Peace be with you,
Kathleen

Just came across this prayer intention today … Praying for all involved.

Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

***Continuing to pray…

" The regal dark mysterious crossin a song is lifted high,
The wood on which our God was raised, as man against the sky.

Upon this wood His body bore the nails, the taunts, the spear,
till water flowed with blood to wash the whole world free of fear.

At last the song that David sang is heard and understood:
" Before the nations God as King, reigns from His Throne of
wood ".

This wood now spread with purple wears the pagentry of kings;
of chosen stock it dares to hold on high his tortured limbs.

Oh blessed tree, upon whose arms the world’s own ransom
hung; His body pays our debt and life from Satan’s grasp is wrung.

O Sacred Cross, our steadfast hope in this our passion tide,
through You the Son obtained for all forgiveness as He died.

May every living creature praise our God both one and three,
who rules in Everlasting Peace all whome His cross makes free."
Amen.

An update on Jeff:

The hearing lasted 2 days in all, and a number of witnesses who weren’t put on at the time of his initial trial were heard. The attorneys for both sides of the issues have 4 weeks to finish gathering material to give to the judge, who will then make a decision. (He has no time deadline to meet, so we have no idea when the final decision will be rendered.)

Before being returned to the prison where he is incarcerated, the sheriff gave Jeff and his mom, 2 sisters, and 2 grandchildren the opportunity for a “contact visit”. His sisters hadn’t touched him in years, and he’d never been able to meet or touch his grandchildren. This meant a lot to everyone in the family.

So the waiting begins.

I continue to pray for God’s will to be done and for the final decision to reflect God’s justice. (acts17verse28.blogspot.com/2010/02/what-kind-of-justice-is-that.html has an interesting perspective on “justice”; it seems that the meaning of this word has undergone some change since Biblical times…)

I thank each of you for your prayers.

God bless you!

… and for his family.

Jeff has been in prison for 18 years. Today and tomorrow (2/24 & 2/25/10), there is a critical hearing on his case. Please join me in prayer that God minister to Jeff and to his family throughout this time, that God will guide the witnesses to speak the truth, and the attorneys and the judge the wisdom to rightly present and judge the case. And may all those who suffer as a result of crime - victims, families, etc. - be comforted and strengthened.

If you belong to a prayer group or if you use Twitter or Facebook, please ask your faith community to join with us in prayer as well.

There is a beautiful prayer for prisoners here: goo.gl/fb/EKPA.

May God’s will be done!

Thank you, and God bless you!
Lord, allow Jeff to be delivered in justice from his persecutors and those who seek the ruin of his life. Amen.

Dear Lord watch over Jeff and protect him from harm.Comfort his worried family and grant a favourable outcome will entail.Amen

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

You visited me when I was in prison…
Dear God,
I just pray for this man, that he may be shown Your love and mercy. May Your people uplift Him and support in Your Holy Name. Dear Father God, Your son commanded us to love one another as He had loved us. I ask You Father, if this unfortunate man, imprisoned for so long, may receive some of the earthly love that Your beloved son Jesus so wished for us to manifest to each other. For Thou art Love, Father. I beg you also Father, that You spread Your mantle over him and as well as so many of Your other exiled children who languish in prison, lonely and despairing. Father may they know something other than loss and sorrow. Please grant them hope, courage and achievement, Father. Please protect them and bless them. I ask these things in the Holy Name of Jesus.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
