Everyday, we hear of people dying suddenly from accidents, calamities, violence, etc. I cannot help wonder how many of them are prepared to meet the Lord as they enter eternity.

Will their eternity be one of happiness which the Lord Jesus gained for them so painfully? Or, will it be otherwise? Are some people praying for them at this very decisive moment of their spiritual battle?

Inviting everyone, then, to join in prayer for those dying today throughout the world (especially our relatives, friends and acquaintances) that they may be protected by God’s grace and mercy, as they cross decisively from this life to the next. Thank you and God bless.

Prayer for Mercy for the Dying

O Merciful Jesus, Lover of Souls, I beseech You, by the agony of Your Most Sacred Heart and by the sorrows of Your Immaculate Mother, wash clean in Your Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their final agony but especially those on their way to eternal damnation and who are to die this day.

Heart of Jesus who suffered death’s agony, I beg You have mercy on these poor souls.

Amen.

Mother Mary, I commend the dying to you and the souls of those who will die today. Help them to have contrition so they can be saved. May our Lord have mercy on them, grant them contrition and pardon their sins. Amen.

Jesus, we trust in You!
 
Thank you, all, for your prayers. We know that prayers are always heard by Our Lord. So, we can trust that He will use our humble prayers to help people on their deathbed to make it safely home to heaven (even if some will have to pass through Purgatory).

We won’t know this side of life, who or how many we helped; in the next life, we will. But the important thing is, that souls found help from our prayers to cross over safely to God’s presence in eternity.

Thank you, Lord!
 
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments, we might not despair, nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen.

Lord God, You alone know the appointed time and day of our death. We lift up to Your mercy and compassion all those dying around the world today… We pray for those dying in wars, in calamities, in accidents, in hospitals, at home, and everywhere. May they seek You and be truly contrite for all their sins as they near the appointed hour… And may they be brought into Your kingdom of eternal love and peace… AMEN
