Hello my brothers & sisters in Christ,

My name is Dan and I need your help. My wife & I have a cruise booked for next year April 2021. We have to fly from CA to New Orleans because that’s where the cruise port is. The trip is over 8 months away and the anxiety/fear is tearing me apart; I can’t get the death/doom visions out of my head. I’ve been a fearful flyer for many years and my wife is starting to lose her patience. I try to avoid flying as much as possible, but now she wants to start traveling to far away places (both domestic & international) that require airline travel. I know it’s not fair to my wife that we stay cocooned home due to my fear. I know we all have to die one day and that everything happens according to God’s plan, but I don’t want to die in a plane crash.

Could you please pray for my wife and I for God to protect us on our trip, that both the departing & return flights and the cruise to be safe and incident-free.

I know this whole thing sounds idiotic. I pray to God constantly for a sign that everything will be ok and nothing bad will happen, but I don’t see or hear anything, which is why I’m reaching out to you my brothers & sisters.

Please help me. Thank you and God bless you!

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

You totally have my sympathy as I too am afraid of flying!
The trouble with phobias is we know they’re irrational but they’re still very real to us. I could throw out all sorts of things much more likely to kill us (from being in a car accident to Covid-19) but, even if it is the safest form of transport, it still scares the living daylights out of you and me!
Apparently I’m also unusual as I don’t really mind take off and landing. I just can’t believe the plane can stay up there in between. I used to joke about how it was no wonder St. John Paul II used to kiss the ground at airports…he must’ve been afraid of flying too!

On my last significant flight I was also in RCIA, pre-first-confession, so I was extra worried about being one of the unfortunate few.

Worrying about it 8 months in advance seems a little OTT but I appreciate the added pressure of the anticipation of more flights in your future is also eating away at you.

You should have time to explore ‘Fear of Flying Courses’, Hypnotism or medication as options to help. The more you do it the more you’ll relax. Nobody was more astounded than me that I fell asleep on my flight back!

As we’d say in the UK - Chin Up!
You’ve got this. And you’ve got my prayers.

Personally, I would be more worried of taking a cruise in the times of Covid-19.

You are in my prayers for a totally safe trip.

Very much understood. Most people I’ve talked to are more terrified of contracting COVID on a flight. As ironic as it sounds, COVID contraction doesn’t frighten me…it’s the darn flight itself.

Thank you again for keeping me in your prayers!

Thank you very much for your support! I was thinking about possibly taking Dramamine to help me sleep or at least get drowsy. Yes, I agree 8 months out is very OTT, but like you said, phobias are difficult and sometimes they get the best of us.

I can thank you enough for your prayers and I very much look forwarding to landing safely and returning back safe to my residence next April. God bless!

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Dear God, give me courage,

for perhaps I lack it more than anything else.

I need courage before men against their threats

and against their seductions.

I need courage to bear unkindness,

mockery, contradiction.

I need courage to fight against the devil,

against terrors and troubles, temptations,

attractions, darkness and false lights,

against tears, depression, and above all fear.

I need Your help, dear God.

Strengthen me with Your love and Your grace.

Console me with Your blessed Presence

and grant me the courage to persevere

until I am with You forever in heaven.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,

Mother of Tranquility

and Mother of Hope,

look upon DS1792 in this time

of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart

to know that God’s Love

for her is unchanging and

unchangeable, and, that

true human love can only

begin and grow by touching

His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -

which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this

same Peace into the lives

of others.

Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
Amen.

Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,

saying:

Jesus, help me!

In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:

Jesus, help me!

In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:

Jesus, help me!

In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,

troubles and sorrows:

Jesus, help me!

When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:

Jesus, help me!

When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:

Jesus, help me!

When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good

come from my efforts:

Jesus, help me!

When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:

Jesus, help me!

When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and

I am lonely:

Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-

comings of every kind:

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Prayer for Peace of Mind

Fortify me with the grace of Your Holy Spirit,
and give Your peace to my soul that I may be
free from all needless anxiety, solicitude, and
worry. Help me to desire always that which is
pleasing and acceptable to You so that Your
will may be my will. Through Christ Our Lord,
amen.
