Will you please join me in prayer for this man’s elderly mother?
While I don’t watch the show that this man is part of, but I read about his elderly mother going downhill and it made me feel sad and dismayed.
Also, can you pray generally for all the elderly in nursing homes to not be lonely -that some solution can be found.
I sometimes feel like the Australian government (where I live) is acting too much in concern of elderly peoples physical health exclusively, (due to Covid 19 concerns), but then neglecting their emotional and “humanity” health.
When I hear of people being denied to see their elderly family members who are dying, or even being denied from attending their funerals, it makes me so angry and horrified.
What is their (governments) “end game”?
Is it just the preservation of the physical body, in exclusion of everything else? Is it just to carry out policies in a way that will enure that they won’t be blamed if anything goes wrong? Why does the world have to be so full of self-interest and bureaucracy?
But being human not just about preserving the “physical shell”, but about love, connection, hugs, closeness, family, spirituality etc.
I am not suggesting our elderly physical health should not be taken most seriously!
But when I hear about people in nursing homes feeling so lonely, which no doubt then in itself lowers their immune system further, and increases likelihood of catch such as disease, then this makes me so sad.
I wish there was something that could be done to change the way that our western countries often look at the elderly as something disposable, that you shunt away into nursing homes when they lose their perceived “value”.
Anyway, sorry for the rant.
