I need some prayers for my marriage. My husband and I have hit a horribly rocky road due to infidelity and a year of separation. I need prayers for my husband’s heart to be moved and changed.

Although our family life is doing better now, our marriage is suffering so much and has not healed - and he does not see that or needs some motivation to do some real healing work.

The stress, depression and trauma of the betrayal feels unbearable at times, and I am now pregnant so I worry how this is affecting the baby. So if you can pray for the safety of my baby that I’m carrying and little daughter at home, I’d appreciate it. Prayers for our marriage would also be appreciated. It feels like we need a miracle to save it but I keep praying for God to become the center of our marriage and help heal us.

God bless,

Praying for you and your family!

Blood and water gushing forth from the heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in you.
Have mercy on this struggling family. In Jesus’ name we pray. To Jesus, through Mary. Amen

*Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection,
implored your help or sought your intercession,
was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence,
I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in your mercy hear and answer me.
Amen.

Father of the fatherless, defender of widows
God in his holy abode,
God gives a home to the forsaken*(Ps 68:6-7)

St Joseph, pray for us
Holy Family of Nazareth, pray for us

Dear CatholicMom,

My heart goes out to you and your children.

Whenever I respond to a post where one partner (wife or husband) is trying to preserve a marriage that the other seems much less committed to, I always recommend James Dobsons Love Must be Tough (free pdf).

Here is one of my posts on the subject.
After my wife had left me I discovered James Dobson’s Love Must Be Tough, (free pdf) and it made sense of all I had been through in the separation process. Many others have found that as well. I just wish that I had discovered it BEFORE I went through this stage. Dobson is a Protestant, but I believe that his advice is the best I’ve ever seen for marital infedility.
In a nutshell, Dobson is saying that you, the cheated on spouse, must be “tough” in yourself, and committed to the marriage and your values, and give the cheating spouse their freedom, but not complete licence. No bargaining, pleading, or anger. Be willing to discuss your marriage, but don’t accept the blame for your spouse’s behaviour.

Thank you, everyone, for your prayers. Edmundus, thanks too for your recommendation. That was the first book I bought and read after learning the betrayal. It did help me with our separation. I’m also seeing a great Christian counselor who deals with partners of affairs and addictions so that is helpful too. The hard part is keeping my emotions in check now that we aren’t separated because of all the pain still.

Thanks again for everyone’s prayers. It means so much.

More prayers for you and your family today!
Jesus, Mary, I love you. Save souls.
