Prayers for friend who wants to be Catholic

Have a friend who volunteered that she wants to convert to Catholicism, but said that she cannot accept, and knows she never will accept, two or three of the teachings of the Church.

She is* extremely* intelligent and very moral and deeply Christian. We had a very long conversation on one of these subjects in which we agreed on most every thing, and I think we both came away a little confused on why the other did not come away convinced.

pray for all of us. I wish I could say that her problem was that she was not smart, too sinful, didn’t pray enough, or was too proud to understand, but that is so not reality. Anyone who suggests otherwise, call me and we can get into a fist fight.

Salvation is a hard thing. And God can choose to make himself hard to know.

Perhaps your friend just needs to pray more and ask the Lord to show them what He desires for them. Relying on our own reasoning can only take us so far. Reading and learning is certainly very important and even required before one makes a commitment to follow Christ in His church. Many converts have shared that they too reached an impasse on one or two points, then asked Jesus to make it clear to them if he wants them in His church. Rely not on your own understanding, but give over your heart and mind to the Lord and He will show you the way.

Used2beSherryG, thank you for your advice, but this is a request for prayers for her. Maybe the issue is that I have not prayed enough for her, but it is definitely not that she does not pray.

God may take his time. Faith is a gift. We should beg him for it for ourselves and our friends.
