So I have been trying to discern my vocation for a while now. I love the church and I love the idea of becoming a priest. But, in my heart, I want to share my faith with a spouse and have a family. Is it wrong for me to desire both the priesthood and a family? I’m not really sure what God has planned for me. Thanks and God bless!

Father help this person discern what is right for his life in the Catholic church. May he find the right path at your will Father. May he live strong in your word and help guide others toward your love and becoming a servant for life. In your name, Jesus amen!

Hail Mary,
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

I totally understand how you feel,

You can do 21 days fasting where you may avoid a meal or maybe don’t eat chicken for 21 days etc, then surrender this fasting for conversion of sinners, souls in purgatory, people dying now etc,

Then say a Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet every day in this 21 days fasting as well,

Then by 22nd day, Jesus will reveal Jesus’s plan for you…

In Bible, Daniel fasted for 21 days and God send St Michael to help,

I was addicted to a particular sin,

I did 21 days fasting and not only did I saw a special dream on 22nd day and got a lot of joy and started becoming a more serious Catholic after my experience,

But God gave me 3 weapons again evil (3 St Michael prayers) when I was about to sin,

And when I said these 3 prayers,

I was freed from this sin which I was so addicted to,

So same way God will send St Michael to help you,

Try this and you can see what is God’s plan…

All Best

Please with all your daily prayers,

Along with your personal intentions,

Also pray for conversion of sinners and souls in purgatory

After a Rosary or Divine Mercy Chaplet,

You can just say,

I am surrendering this prayer, All the prayers I said with this prayers and all the Holy meditations I did in the name of Jesus Christ for the conversion of sinners etc

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

LORD Jesus please help and guide your son to take the right decision.

Hey guy,

Don’t worry about this. You’re not doing anything wrong; both of those desires are admirable! Since you’re neither priest nor husband yet, it’s perfectly fine to want both; it’s not wrong to not know what God has planned for you.

Remember that you have the gift of free will; if God isn’t leading you in one definitive way or another, you may want to consider your situation like St. Catherine’s, when he offered her the crown of glory and the crown of thorns and told her to choose one. He didn’t push one or the other, and both were offers in good faith.

Her answer, of course, was to ask God to choose for her (He chose thorns). You could always ask the same question, and see if God leads you one way or the other. But never doubt that if He insists on one or the other, you’ll be led that way. If not, consider the choice free and clear and up to you. Either way you’ll have a few regrets but also find many joys, and can fully consider yourself as doing God’s will.

Just don’t put a time limit on yourself, i.e. “if I’m not sure in a year, I’m getting married”. Let God work in His own time.

I’ll add you to my rosary intentions tonight.

Perhaps you are called to being a father, whether that is a spiritual or physical father we don’t know yet. I will say prayers for you!

Prayer for the Help of the Holy Spirit

O God, send forth Your Holy Spirit into our hearts that
we may perceive; into our minds, that we may remember;
and into our souls, that we may meditate. Inspire us to speak
with piety, holiness, tenderness, and mercy.

Teach, guide, and direct our thoughts and senses from
beginning to end. May Your grace ever help and correct
us. And may we be strengthened now with wisdom from
on high, for the sake of Your infinite mercy. Through
Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Is it wrong for me to desire both the priesthood and a family?
Hello @UncleGranpa03! I also want to become a priest, a loving father, and husband. There’s nothing wrong about desiring both but we should seek our priority. Is it God or building our future?

I’ll always pray for you and for other men who seek to become a priest.

May your heart always be
the temple of the Holy Spirit.
May Jesus always be the helmsman
of your little spiritual ship.
May Mary be the star
which shines on your path
and may she show you the safe way
to reach the Heavenly Father.

Amen.

St. Pio

I pray that our Heavenly Father guides you by what He provides and by what He does. Continue to use the mind He has given you to live life and make decisions. Advise you to not be passively idle waiting for a clear sign.

Remember, O most chaste spouse of the Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who implored your help and sought your intercession were left unassisted.
Full of confidence in your power I fly unto you and beg your protection.
Despise not O Guardian of the Redeemer my humble supplication, but in your bounty, hear and answer me.

Amen. 🕊️
