Prayers for the Church

[Pamm]

I offer a prayer that our dear and beloved Church find its way through the cynacism, suffering and pain caused by the abuse scandals around the world. Dear God, please allow the truth to come out, punishment to occur when it is due, and forgiveness for the failing of all who need redemtpion. Please offer the faithful strength and love to endure the media barrage, the harsh judgment of others and the peace of knowing that we will indeed come through this difficult and trying time. Pray that the media show fairness and focus on accuracy. I pray that the laiety hold Church officials accountable but also show mercy for their failings. I pray for the vicitims that they may find peace and strength to recover from their pain. I pray for the perpetrators – that they acknowledge their sins and humbly accept their punishment. I pray for the forgiveness of their sins. Most of all Lord, I pray for the faithful – that we rally together in faith and love and remember that it is You who will get us through these storms.

For the Lord’s Cleansing, Defense, and Governance of the Church
May your continual pity, O Lord, cleanse and defend Your Church; and, because without you she cannot endure in safety, may she ever be governed by Your bounty. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end. Amen.

St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our safeguard
against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we
most humbly pray. And do thou, O prince of heavenly host, by the power of
God, thrust into hell Satan and all other evil spirits that prowl through the
world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Prayer for Protection by the Holy Cross
Assist us, O Lord our God;
and defend us evermore by the might of Thy holy Cross,
in whose honour Thou makest us to rejoice.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and Earth
And in Jesus Christ
His only Son, Our Lord
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit
Born of the Virgin Mary
Suffered under Pontius Pilate
Was crucified, died and was buried.
On the third day, he rose again
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand
of God, the Father Almighty.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the Communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
