Dear All…
I am a very strong, faithful Catholic. I thought and hopefully still think that my wife is one as well. We had some problems in our marriage with a number of outside factors and then depression that took ahold of me for over a year. Anyway, after understanding this problem and really making some strides, my relationship with my wife began to really improve. Unfortunately she was transferred to Germany for 3 years, and it was our plan for me to come over there in a year after taking care of a house that we were selling and to finish up things with work.
A month after getting over there—and really out of the blue, my wife said that she couldn’t figure out how to fix things. 4 months later, I received divorce papers in the mail. I have tried to do everything possible to demonstrate all of my changes…that I want to make her happy…adn that we would be in the future. She refuses to even let me visit…and really even talk to me at any level.

I get looks like I am crazy when I tell people that it is my faith and the modern and recognized view of the Catholic Church that if I am divorced, I will honor my wife–as my wife for the rest of my life. I know in my heart that an anullment would be a lie if it was given…and I would fight it to the death-because I know that our marriage is valid. Unfortunately my wife has convinced herself that this doesn’t concern her—and that basically I would be crazy to expect to live the rest of my life childless and wifeless.

That is an absolutely horrible fate to imagine for a 32 year old professional—who has wanted children more than anything in his life. But I don’t have any other choice-because of my faith and the consequences of turning my back on that.

The sad part is that I am certain, #1 that my marriage would and had turned around, #2 that it would have worked if she hadn’t taken the job in Germany, #3 that we never did any type of marital counseling or communicating or anything like that to address our concerns…before she told me about any of this divorce madness.

Just makes me absolutely sick to my stomach—thinking about what has been taken from me, what my future will be, and how my wife’s faith and beliefs have all of a sudden changed to adapt to her personal feelings.

My 22 year old brother died 5 years ago—and I never imagined anything being worse. And though I love my brother to death, I know that everything was perfect in his life before his accident and that I know exactly where he is and can talk to him everyday----
This despair from this divorce proceeding and the future that will follow—is far and away worse.

PLEASE GIVE MY WIFE, ME, AND OUR MARRIAGE ALL THE PRAYERS YOU CAN MUSTER. This decision will rob me of all present and future happiness, my wife, my marriage, my best friend, and my children that were meant to be… Please.

I posted on the other forum for you already but just wanted to post it here too just in case you don’t read the other one.

Here goes:
I am SO VERY sorry for what you are going through. It is so very sad and scary to hear what happens to marriages. It just breaks my heart.
I will pray for you…

May our Lord open her eyes to what she is doing. May our Lord touch her heart to come back home to you.

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death. Amen.

**God our Father,
teach us all to cherish the gifts that surround us.
Increase our faith in you
and bring our trust to its promised fulfillment
in your will.

If this be your will Father,
then show themait where he should go from here.
Guide him in your path,
grant him comfort, peace,
understanding, and an increase in faith.

AMEN**

You both have my prayers of healing. May God grant you strength through this difficult time.

No wonder you suffer depression, it is entirely understandable. You are showing great courage and Faith and may The Lord sustain you always in this…trust He is right in this situation with you always and that He does have a plan for your life which at the moment seems in deep darkness…Will keep you in prayer and your wife too…
