Prayers or novena to find a spouse?

This may come as a shock to you but saying a novena to a Saint to go and whisper into Gods ear to send a spouse along to whisk you away indicates a lack of trust in God. If you would like the conversational company of a Saint do tell St Joseph for instance that because of his example your heart was happy when he accepted Mary to be his wife and thank him for his love and faith in God because now you know how a wonderful joy it was for Mary to be accepted when she was being rejected.

Asking a saint to pray for us, the same way we would ask a friend to pray for us, indicates a lack of trust in God?

The OP has already been advised to not treat novenas superstitiously. That is a temptation for some people, unfortunately. But prayer is a vital part of faith, and in the “Our Father” itself Jesus taught us that we should ask God for what we need. Even if Blue Rose’s prayer is answered differently than she expects, it doesn’t mean the time she spends in prayer will have been wasted or wrong.
 
Why do you need a friend to pray for you? Why don’t you tell God directly exactly what it is that you want to say? Instead of just saying the our Father realise that it was not a mere prayer per say, it was instructions for life with God, a worldview and explanation of God. If people realised what the our Father prayer really was they would be fascinated by it and would not be able to stop thinking and meditating on it for weeks.

Blue_Rose if I told you that these are and always will be the most important words ever spoken in a human language would you also say I am being ridiculous?

Why not both?

If you are Catholic, you need to learn some more about Catholicism, because the “advice” you are leaving on this thread and others is distinctly NOT Catholic.

If you aren’t Catholic, you should identify as such so posters understand where your perspective is coming from.
 
Aaahm28, I know one Novena that has helped me with someone seeking
in their faith is the Novena to the Holy Spirit. I prayed it with my Godmother.
It did help someone come to Christ.

I did this novena and a few variations of it around this time last year. No luck yet, but maybe you’ll have more luck!

NOVENA PRAYER TO ST RAPHAEL

*O Glorious St. Raphael, Patron and Lover of the Young, I call upon thee and plead with thee for thy help.In all confidence I open my heart to thee, to beg thy guidance and assistance in the important task of planning my future. Obtain for me through thy intercession the light of God’s grace, so that I may decide wisely concerning the person who is to be my partner through life. O Angel of Happy Meetings, lead us by the hand to find each other. May all our movements be guided by thy light and transfigured by thy joy. As thou didst lead the young Tobias to Sara and opened up for him a new life of happiness with her in holy marriage, lead me to such a one whom in thine angelic wisdom thou dost judge best suited to be united with me in marriage.

I’ve also done the 54 day Rosary novena, though it seems my luck with women has actually gotten worse since then. I don’t think God would want us to invoke such a power prayer for selfish reasons. Though if you’d like to try it out this website has the best guide I’ve seen for it.

There are other ways besides prayer–although of course that’s the best!

I heard of this young man who complained to his parish priest that there were no nice young Catholic ladies to marry. It turned out that just recently a nice young Catholic lady had complained to the same priest that there were no nice young Catholic men to marry.

The priest introduced them to each other.

They became my great-grandparents. 🙂

Both my parents and my husband’s parents met at church. I met my husband through a diocesan Catholic Singles Club.

You might consider asking your parish priest what is available for Catholic singles in your area.
