Prayers to St. Genesius

I know that he’s the patron saint of Theatre and preformers and I’m in a show right now at my high school and we didn’t do so well last night!! Anybody have a prayer that they might say asking St. Genesius for a little intercession before a show??

How about this?

Dear Genesius, according to a very ancient story, when you were still a pagan, you once ridiculed Christ while acting on the stage. But, like Saul on the road to Damascus, you were floored by Christ’s powerful grace. You rose bearing witness to Jesus and died a great martyr’s death. Intercede for your fellow actors before God that they may faithfully and honestly perform their roles and so help others to understand their role in life and thus enabling them to attain their end in heaven. Amen.

we used to participate in a Genesian Festival when I was in Catholic school, all the schools of the diocese (Detroit) participated. There were several categories such as debate, speech, essay, chorale reading, dramatic reading, poetry, and one-act play. I believe students from about 6th grade through high school competed in their own schools and in regional contests. the one-act plays were the highlight, and I remember some memorable performance.

First saw DH when his school competed in debate. He was great and still is. Not love at first sight, but certainly debate at first sight (gee, that explains a lot). Don’t remember much about St. Genesius except he was the patron saint of rhetoric and acting.

PRAYER: St. Genesius, who suffered a martyr’s death, intercede for me before the throne of God, whisper my petition into the ear of God Almighty, that He might grant my petition (State Request). I make my prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
