There is a prayer request to ask God to “send his grace and comfort” to a family who suffered a tragedy. I am wondering about the logic of this. Would it not be the case that God is already doing this and would be someone presumptuous to ask? It seems the equivalent of asking someone who is cutting the grass to go cut the grass. Is the intent here that God “increase” his grace and comfort if He is not already maximally doing so? But it doesn’t make sense that God is sending some level of comfort but can be persuaded to send more if asked in prayer.
