DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – Emergency officials on Monday urged nearly 1,600 residents of Red Oak and all of tiny Coburg in southwest Iowa to evacuate because of rising waters from the East Nishnabotna River after a weekend of heavy rain.

In Red Oak, the Red Oak Creek that feeds the Nishnabotna River that flows through town was rising so fast, the water was backing up, said Adam Wainwright, emergency management coordinator for Montgomery County.

Praying for Iowa residents! :gopray2: How awful. I am so sorry, I didn’t even hear about this. I hope no one was injured or killed. Are you all okay? Your family? I sure hope so!

I’m fine. My family and I live several miles away and we are on very high ground. If the flood waters reach our house, start building arks, 'cause then it’s really bad! Thank you for asking, though.
