Praying for More People Better or Worse?

I’ve been praying for a few years now, which is kind of new to me because I didn’t really spend much of my first 30+ years on this earth seeking to invoke gods power over my situations through prayer. But now that’s all changed.

I prayed for specific people with specific issues at first but then I started to open my prayers to “for all those suffering with this issue” instead. For me it felt better to be praying for my friend or enemy and millions of other anonymous persons. But is that what really happens? Will god see this as some sort of “if he can’t name the instance it’s no good” type of scenario?

Sometimes in religion I find a brick wall at the end of a lot of effort. Then I have to rethink it, and get back on board. Is this one of those times I’m going to find out I’m wasting my brain power because it won’t work that way?

Some of my defaults are “for my family tree”, “for those who have asked for my prayers”, “for those who have no one to pray for them”, and “for those for whom I’m most obligated to pray”. I figure whatever my prayer is worth, it will get applied to whatever is most useful, who might not have anyone else to pray for them, and if I happen to know them, I might not happen to think about them or recognize their problems. 💙

God is fine with broad prayers, or narrow prayers. He only considers the sincerity of the prayer, not whether you’re praying for 1 person or 100,000 persons. He does not expect you to know by name or appearance or anything the persons you pray for.
