Praying in Latin

When you do a search for one thing, you usually come across something not related but you know someone will ask the question sooner or later. Save it in English and Latin; space is cheap these days. 🙂

I’m working on learning the rosary in Latin. Isn’t there a chapter in the Introduction to the Devout Life that says to learn prayers in Latin?
 
I also pray in Latin. The Pater Noster, Ave Maria and Credo can be easily learned and understood in Latin. Especially after the 190879th recitation 😉

It’s very useful to have a language set aside for worship. You are saying: “Now, hear this!”

I also find it useful to take bits of existing Latin prayers and try to make up my own.
 
Outside of the prayers at Mass, I also pray the Rosary in Latin, as well as the Angelus (said thrice daily) and the grace before meals.
 
Our company had an event to Kick-off the year, and I was picked to lead the opening prayer. I think everybody was surprised that after saying the first part of the prayer in English, I suddenly prayed in Latin. I chanted “Suscipe” to surrender the whole year to the Lord.
