Praying in tongues with interpretation. How often have you seen this spiritual gift?
 
This is a phenomena that came into the Protestant world back in the early 20th Century. It moved into Catholic circles around 1967.

No, the charism or extraordinary gift of tongues has been in Catholicism for 2000 years. It’s an extraordinary gift of the Holy Spirit. However, it is a very low extraordinary gift, and not one of the Seven [Ordinary] Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Personally, I have never seen it… but sometimes when I’m praying deeply and in a totally relaxed way (almost like meditating), my mouth makes sounds that my mind & soul are not praying… 🤔

Go to any Charismatic church or gathering and you’ll see it as a normal gift of the Spirit. It is how people pray - although some pray only in tongues and some prayers are interpreted. It’s really quite beautiful. And edifying.

Can you find one official teaching of the Church that speaks of Glossolalia in the post-Apostolic age Church?

There have been examples of Saints who were able to speak in or understand actual human languages that they had not learned by natural means, but, there are no accounts, not one, or any Saint, Pope, speaking in Glossolalia prior to the very modern era.

Popes have welcomed Charismatic groups and said nice things about them, and I know many wonderful people who are part of the CCR.
