I have barely any time (like most people) and when I do have time to pray, I feel so exhausted I can barely say any words out loud. But my real question is, what do you do when you have sooooooooooooooo much to pray for (self, family, family problems, extended family, friends, other people you know, world problems and situations, people you don’t know, priests, etc etc)? Because I have so much I need and want to pray for but I get very overwhelmed when I think of allllllll the topics and people I should be praying about. I hate it but I usually just end up praying about myself (like to be more virtuous or something like that) and maybe a close family member and then I get either sidetracked or busy with something else. I feel kinda guilty about this because so many people and situations need prayer. Does anyone feel similar or have any advice or suggestions for this?

I would keep it simple, just offer up your day (joys and struggles) to God and entrust in God’s Mercy and Love all your beloved (dead or alive).

God knows everyone’s needs … it’s easy to just pray to God and tell Him that you are turning over all your troubles and cares to Him.

Prayers for your ability to pray.

O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You!

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. x10

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Prayer doesn’t have to traditional. You can always talk to God on a conversational basis - the say way you talk to your friends & family!!! You can even pray while doing something else at the same time, as long as you’re still being respectful and reverent. I hope this helps!!! 🙂

Oh Heavenly Father, you know my many intentions; please do with them as You will and…

keep a prayer journal, I know time is an issue but it will help with the intentions

there is a perpetual rosary thread where you can post a prayer from your phone

A prayer at the 3 o'clock hour, let's offer something up to the Divine Mercy of Jesus Spirituality
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on @244Rocket, Mike (job), @eurotradcat (job search), @Peonies (family to grow), @UpUpAndAway (new deacon), @Delia_button (praying) and on the whole world. I did pray a decade of the divine mercy chaplet for each poster’s intention (during my 15:00 hour). God, Heavenly Father, I ask that Your Will may be done. Give me what You know to be best for my soul, and for the souls of those for whom I prayed. Give us Your Holy Spirit to enlighten us…

“Prayer is a surge of the heart, it is a simple look turned toward heaven,
it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.”
– St. Thérèse of Lisieux
In the spirit of Thérèse’ words, you should try sprinkling your day with aspirations (short prayers). Here’s a list from Catholic Online.

You don’t have to verbalize or even think of every concern you have in order to pray. In prayer you open and offer yourself to God-- and that “you” contains all of those concerns.
If you are looking for a specific suggestion, I suggest the Divine Mercy Chaplet. As you pray each bead bring whatever concern pops into your head at that moment and present it to God. By the time you’re finished you’ve brought 50 intentions (maybe fewer, depending on distractions) to God, which is plenty. I have found this very helpful.

There’s no time limit, no rush so no panic. When you meet your friends to talk do you worry about fitting in all you want to tell them? No probably not. So don’t worry about that with God either. For one thing, he knows, he just likes to hear you speaking to him in your own words. You don’t have to speak out loud, speak in your head and talk about whatever you want. I find it helps to pour out my heart- that is whatever is worrying me…so if its about me at first then so be it. I can’t pray well for others if I haven’t gotten all that out of my head. Ask God to take your burden of worries for you. ‘Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you’ Psalm 55:22.
Then once you are lighter you will likely feel able to pray for others. But have have patience with yourself and endurance with prayer. It takes time and practice to develop a good relationship with God.

There is a thing floating around social media talking about people who do and those who do not have an “inner dialogue”. To be honest, until I read that article, I had NO CLUE that some people had no inner dialogue. I’ve had it from my earliest memories, and assumed everyone else did!

Being raised as a Christian, most of my inner dialogue is a conversation with God. It simply goes on during every waking moment, sometimes I am going over work stuff or talking internally about some other thing, but, more than half my waking hours I am talking to God in my head.

It has always confused me when people said they have “no time to pray”, now I realize that is because not everyone has the inner dialogue. This makes me really think about it more, and regret some of the advice I’ve given people over the years.

So, if you do not have an inner dialogue to fashion into prayer, try one thing that you do every day, what about brushing/flossing before bed? During that couple of minutes, simply talk to God in your head. Driving or riding to work, instead of turning on a podcast or music, talk to God.

This may sound odd, but, I have found that I can say a full Rosary in the time it takes to shower.

Try just talking to God.

If you start your day with a morning offering of the day in front of you, all those tasks will be prayers for the conversion of sinners and peace in this world, including those on your list to pray.
Great question!
