Greetings, all -

I am wondering about what one should do when praying a litany alone. Should the “pray for us” be changed to “pray for me”?

I’m also wondering about those parts of the Liturgy of the Hours that include “pray for us”. In individual recitation, can we say “pray for me” instead?

Many thanks!

Actually, when you are praying alone, you aren’t really praying alone. The whole Church prays with you: the Church militant (us), the Church Triumphant (the saints in heaven) and the Church suffering (the souls in purgatory). So, when you say, “pray for us”, that “us” includes all of us, especially the souls in purgatory.

I hope this helps.

Good question. I’ve wondered the same thing myself.

Good answer!🙂

Aha! Of course!

I don’t know why I didn’t think of that myself … thank you for your answer, I think it is spot on!👍

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us!
