I am a member of the Dominican Order (Secular Institute of the Company of Saint Dominic) and it’s a requirement for us to pray the whole 20 mysteries of the Rosary. Since I travel about 15 miles going to College and travelling back home (I ride the bus, by the way), I have a lot of time for praying the Rosary. In going to school, I pray the first 10 mysteries, and in going home, I pray the remaining ten. And yes, since I travel in my habit, I use the long rosary we hang in our belts.

Let me share a story: I was riding a bus one evening going home from School, and a man declared a hold-up inside the bus (here in the Philippines, things like these happen). Everybody was taking off their jewelry and handing their laptops, cellphones and money to the man. As for me, I was wearing the cowl of my capuche while praying the rosary. I was the only one who was not noticed by the man. After the man got off the bus, everybody inside was hysterical and was asking each other what the man got from them. A lady asked me “brother, what did the man get from you?” I only said “the man did not approach me.” I can testify that Our Lady saved me from that ordeal through her Habit that I was wearing, and the rosary I was praying. God is so good to those who trust in Him. 🙂

I discovered that i have perfect amount of time to pray the rosary while i take the bus to work as it takes me at least 30-40 min. However, i feel akward using Rosary in public. I have actually seen couple of old ladies doing it but its a little weird for me. Has anyone done that before or is it just not a good idea in general?
I pray the Legion of Mary Prayers and the rosary in my head when I drive. It is really not that hard. I also pray it when I am in the dentist ofc. or in the store, or working out. All in my head. I have said it so many times that way and every prayer counts!🙂
