I have searched for the answer to this and I can not find it. I know the apologist have stated that we as Catholics do pray to Mary and that it is in the catechism. Ofcourse, they state that our prayers to Mary are different from those to God. That is not my question. My sole question is where in the catechism does it state that we pray to Mary?

from 2673 through 2679 it references Mary and even explains the Ave Maria line by line. 😉 So I suppose it rather obviously and rightly assumes that Catholics ask Mary for her intercession, perhaps there is a paragraph in the CCC that more accurately answers your question.

Mary is discussed in 484-511

Praying to Mary is mentioned specifically in 2679 and 2682

Thank you! It was 2679 that I was looking for. 2679 states:

Mary is the perfect Orans (pray-er), a figure of the Church. When we pray to her, we are adhering with her to the plan of the Father, who sends his Son to save all men. Like the beloved disciple we welcome Jesus’ mother into our homes, for she has become the mother of all the living. We can pray with and to her. The prayer of the Church is sustained by the prayer of Mary and united with it in hope.

If I am troubled about something and can’t find an answer, I ask Mary to take my problem to God. You would not believe the peace that comes from that alone. She is really out here to help us and be our spiritual Mother. I can’t begin to tell you how many times she has helped me.
I hope you find the same kind of peace that I find going to her for help and intercession.

Another noteworthy thing to learn about in this aspect is the Communion of Saint. Why we pray to the saints and how does this exactly work.
