Praying to the dead to a non Catholic

Hello, What do i say to non Catholics that say we should not pray to the dead because they are dead? They will want verses proof.

Of course we do not pray to the dead, that would be necromancy.

What we do is ask the living to pray for us. Those who have died in friendship with Christ are alive in heaven.
