You hit the nail on the head Rick. I didn’t want to go back and re-hash the argument. I was in no way implying some grand individual “Truth”. As you said, a group of people may adhere strictly to the Catholic Teachings as Truth. Another may stick to Baptist Teachings as Truth. Each individual, whether they intended to or not, has picked a Truth, so to speak, for themselves. One standing up and saying mine is “The Truth” and yours are just a belief is just not constructive. Both think they are right. And so begins the animosity.
*disclaimer, I am using these terms loosely, I am not trying to start a discussion on all the implied/historical intents of any individual term.
The specific point that probably rubs people, at least me, the wrong way is drawing the direct line>
God>Jesus>(insert church)
and then proclaiming if you don’t believe the above in absolute completion, then you believe none of it. That will certainly invoke reactions from people.
