where to start… I was called at an early age… Education, experiences, life intervened so to speak… I believe especially in this day and age that it’s important to experience what this world and those in it have to offer in order to effectively minister to others. For me my choice is clear but questions remain. I’ve recently moved from my home state and I’m wondering if this will adversely effect me? What cost are associated with seminary training? Will I need to have employement during this time? I have been educated From kindergarten through college at catholic institutions but need to complete my training… Any help, suggestions would be appreciated
Thank you

There are always exceptions so the best place to start for definitive information would be the diocesan vocations director of where you think you would like to be a priest.

But, here is the situation for me:

My archdiocese will pay for all 6 years of seminary. Tuition, books, room and board will all be taken care of and I’ll get a small stipend for expenses. Seminarians are full time students and the rest of their schedule is packed with religious formation and service projects in the surrounding community so seminarians are not able to be employed. Many local parishes have funds set aside to also assist seminarians with expenses. These expenses are small but when you’re not working it can be difficult. Things like car insurance, basic school supplies, gas money for traveling, etc.

Again, this is for my own archdiocese and not all offer the exact same assistance.
