How do you guys think the rest of the decade is going to play out? 9/11 was the key event of the 2000s, will covid-19 be the key event of our decade? What is going to result from it? More government control? Societal unrest? Will the EU fall?

After about 2 years they’ll have a vaccine and the world will return to more or less normal. All our clever and fun cloth masks will become historical curiosities.
And that will be that.

Surely politics and world history will be greatly affected in the immediate aftermath.

I predict everything will be just as it was.
This too shall pass.

Of course, what I would like to see is serious backlash against the various media outlets.

History textbooks will be heavier and heavier…

To be honest I wish for EU to fall or to my country leave it, like Great Britain did, I live in EU and don’t find many positive things in it.
But I don’t think too much what will happen in post covid world, I cannot predict anything and don’t want to. I hope humanity will go in some much better and positive way but those are just my wishes.
This is not first epidemic in history so… History is teacher of life, as Cicero said.
I wish for some basic medical stuff to be active again soon because of my health which cannot wait too long

We still don’t know how the global economy and economy here in the U.S. will be
impacted. We don’t know what will happen with real estate, banks, businesses.
We don’t know how many will be employed.

Too many factors to really predict at this point.

I don’t like that the government “knows” it can keep us at home.

All too easy to abuse that kind of power.

I would hope the post-covid future would entail my country being less dependent on China and other nations for its manufacturing and becoming more self-sufficient.

But, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

There’s a twilight zone episode where the earth was shifted out of its rotation and headed closer to the sun.

Two women are stuck together in a New York apartment.

My mind wanders and I hope the future isn’t like that.

I remember that episode. It was supposed to be near 107° today in Phoenix
so I know how those 2 women felt.

Oh gosh. Stay safe. I know that lots of people say Arizona has dry heat and it’s more tolerable. My one trip to Arizona was in March years ago. It wasn’t very hot, maybe 91 or so. But it still felt incredibly hot, it didn’t matter about the lack of humidity.

Yes, it is starting to heat up. Maybe 1 month more of semi- nice weather.
June, July and August are like living in an oven! @F_Marturana

@F_Marturana and @7_Sorrows, that episode is “The Midnight Sun” and though I’ve seen it many times, I no longer watch it because it completely terrifies me. 😳

As for life post-Covid, literary periods are identified alongside major historical events that had a shaping impact on the literature then produced. This could mark a break into a new period but only reading the literature produced now and in the upcoming decades would prove this.

Best guess? For at least a short time, more backyard gardens and canning, steep unemployment, perhaps restructuring in major hospitals to allow for pandemic wards when needed, a continued strained relationship with China… I’d like to imagine an increased sense of community and gratitude but I’m not holding my breath.

Although, there are very few references to the Spanish flu in the literature of the people who lived through it.
Lots and lots about the War, however…

Yup, feels like 1984 is coming… It’s terrifying!
I hope one lesson we have learned is not too be dependent on China.
And maybe chinese people will stop eating freaking BATS! Yeah, that’s not gonna happen… We’ll have another pandemic like this 10 years from now for sure…

God is destroying the causes of sins what most people think it is right. Money and the greed did not help to fight virus. Maybe we would change and think life is only Love and Giving like God’s will.

So, this pandemic maybe last for a long time and the end is possibly ugly.

Even with vaccine, still not perfect 100% protection.

Surely, social protection is the top priority, and only the core of necessities of goods and services, housing, utilities and healthcare; etc. dominate the future life. New concepts of investment will change everything and the wealth will change hands.

The past 49 days isolation is the time for all Christians to seek to understand what the purpose of life, the Self and what Christians and the world must repent to do as God’s will.

The world have pity on US right now.
If we all do it right according to the Gospels, then maybe the time get shorter.
