So recently I’ve been thinking about all the stuff I’ve ever posted/did online. I’m sure plenty of it has things that were sinful or against Catholic teachings. Lots of stuff I didn’t really think about at the time or didn’t think was wrong.

Do I have moral obligation to try and delete/get rid of as much as possible. Lots of different accounts/websites/ect. I think I would have a hard time finding every bad thing I’ve posted for the last 18+ years.

Is it enough to confess it and move?

If you had an anti-Catholic website or something you should take it down. If you’re asking if you should go through all of your online forum/comment posting history? I’d say no. But you should really be discussing restitution with a Confessor.

Please talk to your confessor and do not stress. If you’ve confessed you are FORGIVEN and the confessor will guide you to the next possible step

I would recommend the following to avoid the near occasion of sin. If you have any pornographic files on your PC, hardrive, in the cloud delete them. Delete any pornograpic sites that you may have in your favorites. Delete your browser history to help avoid accidental or the temptation. Setup a good filtering software.

Also go to Confession as soon as possible. Try to replace the old bad habits with good example increased prayer, spiritual readings, etc. Make use of the sacraments of Confession and Eucharist. If you fail go back to Confession.

More just posting history on forums for games and other behaviors. Things I would no longer want to play or do or condone.

Nothing on my computer or anything I’m actively hosting.

I would think it would be impossible to go back over 18+ years of internet activity and try to find everything and delete it all. First, you would have to remember where you went and what you did over that entire span of time. Not humanly possible, unless you recorded it all and can refer to a written record, which not many people do when it comes to using the internet. Some of us write down our user names and passwords for our various accounts, and (hopefully) keep them in a safe place. If you haven’t done so, your task would be insurmountable.

I would say, do what you can, and don’t worry about the rest. Confess it and follow your confessor’s instructions. He may ask you several questions. Give him honest information, to the best of your knowledge and memory. Once your confessor absolves you, the slate is wiped clean.
