So when I was dating, I did many sins that may have been mortal and knew they were mortal at the time. Sometimes it was pride and sometimes it was fear that led me not to confess these sins (both the sins of mine and the sins of my partner that I either didn’t stop or engaged in). We stayed virgins till marriage but did other acts of the secular culture that were far from pure and were sinful.

You need to confess these, in addition to (perhaps) receiving Communion under grave sin

Yes. I do forget how many times I received communion under grave sin. I continue to struggle to discern when and when not to take communion and when I’ve done a deliberate or willfully ignorant act and when something was truly lacking of compulsion or was otherwise venial rather than mortal. I find that discernment very hard.

That’s fine. saying ‘multiple times’ is usually sufficient.

Just keep working it out in confession praise God you are doing this 🙂 xx

God is glorious. I just have to be better at abstaining from communion when necessary, especially when lectoring. Definitely wish I had a better wherewithal to discern when I should abstain. I usually err on the side of taking communion unless I know 100% it was mortal but I should probably err on the other side. But I’ve had to confess for taking it even when I was sure it was mortal. Actually, I only abstained from communion once for a mortal sin and that was a month-long absention because I should have gotten over to confession quicker.

Already done. Thanks a bunch! I was just curious because I was afraid I missed something.

I agree; it makes no sense to not confess something as soon as you become aware of it - and you should make a perfect act of contrition just in case you die before making it to confession as well.

But yes they were disappointed that I went thru Precana and didn’t address it till after marriage. I had a lot more comfort when I went to a priest at a different parish but it still was hard to do.

I had to run to confession last week because I remembered a possible unconfessed mortal sin from 24 years ago. I’m not positive it was mortal or even if I committed it, but just to be on the safe side, I went and confessed it.

Absolutely. I think the cornerstone (or crux) of the issue is that we are deeply sincere about the sins we commit, we confess them, and than in true repentance we attempt not to repeat that sin.
